How do u tune a box

i plan on building a ported box gor 2 12inch Kicker L5s and i always hear people talking about tuning the box to 35Hz well how do i tune it.

imagine a sealed box with a hole in it givin the size of the hole an the length (of the port)deterimines wut its tuned too...... imagine a organ.....

But you can't just port a sealed box by putting a port in it, the box has to be larger or it will throw off the frequency response. That's why subs have different specs for volume of sealed and ported boxes.

ok clarification time using a sealed box as a start the port must extend outside the box to have the tuning correct........unless u have alot of math skills and have a large box (over 4-5 cubes) u can just make it ported
