Question about speakers

when i have my sub on i cant hear my speakers and if i turn them up they distort. What would i look for in new speakers... higher frequency response???

Two things; get an external amp for your speakers, and you'll probably want speakers with a higher wattage rating to accompany the amp. Or just turn your sub down. :-)

if your head unit has a crossover on it,you can take the bass out of the speakers and they will distort a lot less.

it does have a crossover on it but when i turn it on the bass gets weaker too

In that case, you probably have the RCA cables for the sub amp connected to the wrong connectors on the HU. Make sure they are connected to the sub outputs, not the front or rear outputs. If your HU has one set of RCA jacks for sub/rear, there should be an option in the menu somewhere that you need to set to sub.
