I am planning on getting a 2000wrms amp and I need to know if it is necessary to upgrade my charging system. Will I need a HO alt. or anything else? I drive a 96 Mercury Sable.

Yes you'll need to upgrade your charging system to a HO alt. for when driving if you want to play when the car is off then you need a deep cycle battery.

if you have the 3g 130A ford alt it's very possible it will run ok.

The major variable is your listening habits.

If it were me - I'd wait. Install it - maybe make some improvements to factory wiring if it looks like it needs it.

See what you've got.
If you decide a big alt is req'd - then at least you know you need it.

How much do you want to spend on a amp?

Well it depends..Im willing to spend more if its worth it, but if i can buy a hifonics amp that runs 2000w at 1 ohm and its a good option, Ill go that route. If I need to spend a little more on a better amp I will do that.

no, just didnt want it to be just "Craig" so I added it..plus I listen to Rick Ross alot and I wouldnt mind driving a Rolls Royce. The two R's are also on a can of Rockstar and my previous system was two type-Rs.
