For anyone who owns the Pioneer DEH-P680MP, how bright is it. I have heard this thing lights up the car at night like no other. Is it bad? Is there a way to dim it?

If you have the manual and it tells you it has a function so you can dim it........then yes you can.But on the other hand it might not look it up in a manual or on the internet

Does anyone have this head unit. Is it too bright? Is it a good one to get?

The 680MP has a switchable dimming feature that engages when you turn on your headlights so it will not be too bright at night.

From the online manual for the 680MP. I'd give you the link but you have to be logged in to view it. If you have or are getting this deck definitely sign up on the Pioneer website, it's free:

Switching the dimmer setting
To Prevent the display from being too bright at night, the display is automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned on. You can turn the dimmer on or off.

1) Use MULTI-CONTROL to selcet DIMMER
-Dimmer appears on the display

2) Press MULTI-CONTROL to turn dimmer on.
-ON appears on the display

Adjusting the Brightness
You can adjust the display brightness. Initially this mode is set to 12.

1) Use MULTI-CONTROL to select BRIGHTNESS.
-Brightness appears on the display.

2) Push MULTI-CONTROL left or right to adjust the brightness level
-When dimmer is set to ON, the brightness can be adjusted from 0-10

Haha, no kidding....kind of a ridiculous reason not to purchase a head unit...but I guess I'm pretty lax about how it looks when the sound is my priority.
