I'm currently looking to replace my 2 12's (sony) I was thinking about getting a type R but then I started hearing about just as good if not better brands. I'm looking for a sql sub. Some brands i heard were good...Assassin, Type R, FI, DD, HD3. Can I get some suggestions. Um...budget is like $450 for both subs if possibly.

A couple Audioque SD 2.5's would fit under your budget and give you some nice SQL. The HD3's are
out of your price range as are the DD's and Fi Q.

Snarl he said he could get TWO for $125 + ship. Here is the page he is talking about:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Resonant-engineering-PAIR-12-subs-NEW-IN-BOX-RE-Audio_W0QQit emZ220094343450QQcategoryZ18803QQcmdZViewItem

This guy seems fishy to me -- alarmingly low price, only a 7 feedback and no returns (as we do not know who will be installing them). Ehhhh...
