my friends JL w-0 just broke, the tinsel leads started fraying. I went to a car audio store to see their opinion, and they think it isn't even worth trying to fix. do you guys know any way to fix it, i though just clip the ones that are fraying and solder them into place when i clip them, and solder the wire mount on the sub so no more of them fray. or is there any way i could just completely replace them.

now my second question is I'm doing an install on a 2004 Mitsubishi eclipse with 1 12" BL, and probably a 1200.1 BP JBL amp. I'm building the box for it and I'm wondering what you guys thing, should everything just face backwards, everything face up, or sub up and the port back. (the eclipse is a hatchback)

Just try soldering some wire in place of the leads...it's worth a try. If it doesnt work out right, your only out 10mins of work

oh..and:

Sub up, port back.

Your solder idea will work, its as simple as it looks if the break is visible.
