Just got back from walmart a couple of hours ago...got the subs in the trunk now. Canaan hooked them up to a small amp he has, gave them about 100 watts, and WOW , I must say I am impressed...they do better than my old setup with 2 crappy azz 10's ...they were definatel better SQ and just as loud, I can't wait to give them the full 425 when I get the amp....btw he also let me hear his DD...and DAMN that biotch is loud ....especially the burp he did at the end that made me jump...he forgot his camera so sorry no vids....I am a very happy dude right now...got a great deal in my opinion.
HERES what I'm gonna do...when I get my amp,I'm gonna hook it all up then go to see Canaan for a test and tune...and get metered..but before I get metered I will ask everyone to guess what my nice little 8's will hit...no prize for the winner though
yeah, two re8's in a custom ported box tuned to 35hz..port is 4inch pvc flared to 7 inches...they are rated 175rms watts but will take up to 250 daily...so with the amp I will be getting PG Xenon 400.1 birthsheet says 425watts so 212.5watts each....nice
don't know the exact amp, kicker I believe..but he said it was only about 100watts...so only 1/4 the power they will have...btw....a couple of pics of them in the trunk
the round thing on top of the box in the second pic is a "port wars" box that Canaan gave me for free....said if I put a longer hose on it, it coul possibly hit 160's or better
they're wired 4ohm so I can hook them up to the HU, which I have done. sat in walmart parking lot for a few minutest tonight and went through test tones, they seemed best around 36hz, but thats with just the HU pushing them...probly gonna change once I give them full power
HU is probably putting no more than 15-20 watts out...took them by to let Canaan hear them today, and he was like "DAMN, those are gonna really pound when you get that amp. You have to come by and let me hear them when you do." Heres a couple of things I can do with em just hooked up to the HU... Shake my rearview mirror a lot...see everything in it moving up and down. Lean back in my seat and feel the vibrations, like a massage chair..lol Put change on the rear spoiler and have it move around...not jump up and down, but vibrate all around the spoiler.
I am one happy dude....I love my bass, Now I want my amp.
