ok every1 knows im not a newb & i have built LOTS of boxes - usually its more convenient & simpler to do a long rectangle port using 3 sides of the box as a port & u just add another piece of wood as the 4th wall making a port

so im wondering if 1 had the space on the box' surface & wanted to to like for ex a 4x4 square port rather than a rectangle 2x8 port (note either will = a 16sq" of port) - would there be more output from either if u test it with a db meter or can u hear it ???

i can go try it out myself like i usually do but i'd like to hear u guys 1st ......

Well what I'm saying is what some of us know.Everyone wants the best possible thing and doesn't want any cost. They want the best performing with the least amount of work. You get out what you put in.

yep.

I will say that in theory it wont make much of any difference... depending on the design, it could go either way. Every application is different, you can't throw a blanket statement on there, its just not that simple.

Build it, test it, and let everyone know what you find out.
