I would get the W6 way before I got the type x. I have not heard very good things about the type X. The W6 on the other hand all you hear is good about it.

I've heard that the Type R is actually better than the type X in both SQ and SPL but that's just what I heard from a shop owner/installer.

i'd take the w6 anyday over the x. the x will have more output but also requires double the power but the sq isn't nearly as good as the w6. i wouldn't say the r has better sq than the x, but it does have more spl and the difference in sq between the r and the x isn't so great to warrant the big price difference (comparing msrps').

Rob that also is what I have heard about the X and R. IMO the type X was a complete flop of what it was supposed to be.

the w6 offers a nice punchy sound... I'd choose it for pure SQ, or for rock music.

The type X offers awesome extension and control... it by FAR! I mean by FAR sounds better than the type R... whoever says different has never actually heard a type X.

The X is a superb daily driver sub for those that like low end, it has a w7'esque response while being tighter, but not as "punchy" as the w6.

The X is one of the best SQ subs out there, right along with the W6.

They are both SQ subs, and the W6 is the better one

"They are both SQ subs, and the W6 is the better one"

My ears prefer the low end of the type X.

SQ judges prefer the w6.

Well I guess that's why they say SQ is subjective. But I guess I'm with the judges on this one.

jw, but how do the Rs sq sound. i was thinking, if not 2 W6 10", maybe 3 or 4 10" type Rs.

for 4 10" type R- 245
for 2 10" W6- 490

what setup would be better? is it worth spending twice as much on the 2 W6s Vs 4 Rs?

it all depends on what you are trying to achieve Ben. If you want SQ only then w6 is your driver all day. If you want a cheaper sub and are going for more spl then lean toward the 4-10's. 2-10w6's ported will have decent output if powered properly. I would take the w6's over the r's personally. Why not do 1 13w6v2?

because im limited on space. I drive a Toyota land cruiser with only about 11 inches from seat to the back, and about 4 feet from side to side. i was thinking 10"s because they dont require much depth. could i pull a 13.5 off?

i thought that would be cutting it extremely close, its mounting depth is 9.2". The box would take up some where around an inch on the back side, and i figured i have to give it some room to move.

i wish i could run that but thats a bit high for my budget. 2 12w6v2 would be around $650. im looking more in the price range 3-500 on subs, 3-400 on amp, and 200 on box.
