I have a pioneer P480 and its the second one ive had and both have the same problem. Pioneers seem to have crappy grounds because they always pick up engine noise. I fixed it but it was a pain in the @ss. Next head-unit I buy is going to be Eclipse for sure. Only drawback to eclipse is the non-removable faceplate.

I've always used Pioneer, except for my last Panasonic HU, but I've never had any problems with engine noise!

You can search for it on the net and find tons of people with the problem. It's because pioneer uses an internal microfuse and if it blows your f*cked. The unit will then try to find another ground through your RCA signal wires and make a high pitch whine.
