Alright... soon it will be time to trade off my Jetta for an SUV.. but I can't think of something particular I like for the price..

Heres a few I was looking into that I can get pretty cheap..

GMC Envoy
Jeep Cherokee
Subaru Forester
Pontiac Torrent

At first I was leaning towards the Jeep Cherokee.. black v8.. would be nice but lately the Subaru Forester seems to have the lead. I wanted something that had some sort of aftermarket for and there is not much for the Jeep or Pontiac.

The Envoy is alright.. but if I get an SUV it needs some power and I doubt the V6 will impress me.. The Pontiac.. well thats new to me.

Let me know what you guys can come up with.. whatever it is I want it to get loud hehe..

Gotta fit 2 15"s.. along with my family..

Forgot the mention.. NO FORDS.. the Tahoe is going to be too pricey.. this is a budget buy.

I can get cars wholesale at auction and pay $1000 over dealer cost so I can get things cheap.. like a 05-07 Jeep Cherokee V8.. with low mileage for less than 14K.

Now it must be a 2005-2007..

Regular Jeep Cherokee's all have inline 6's, GRAND Cherokees have optional V8's..Which were you thinking? Btw It's always cool to put rims on an SUV, or you can lift the cherokee, but that's totally unreasonable for a family hauler.

The Envoy is the best choice here if a grand cherokee is out of the question, the drive of envoys is sooo smooth and you can get a v8 in em. You cannot em for looks when they have rims. Although if you want a really unique envoy, get a Buick Rainier (exact same thing (GM), just the rainiers are like luxury suvs, but idk your price range)

1. Jeep Grand Cherokee
2. GMC Envoy/Buick Rainier
3. Pontiac Torrent

on another note.. heres why I was looking into the Subaru.. with a few mods they are quick.. 14.7 QT @ 146 mph is not bad for a slightly modded grocery getter

heres some pics of what you can do to them.. gotta love Turbo vehicles :-)

I'm buying used.. my brother works at a dealership and I'm going to work with his boss on getting me a car.. basically me and my bro will go to auctions to find my car.. when I find it the dealership will buy it and I only pay $1000 more than they paid from them..

TI'd love a Tahoe.. but the new ones look bleh. and I need something at least newer than my car which is a 2003. Looking for 35k miles or less for a 2004-2007

personally i think the forrester looks pretty g a y. if your going for an suv get something decent not just the next minivan moms car.

personally iv never been a big fan of fords but in the past few years they have come along way to compeate with the imports. explores are pretty cheap and you might beable to get a good deal on an expedition. my dad has one and hes got like 135k on it running strong, plus its got the v8 and some decent power behind it.

but out of your list id say the jeep

i'm taking it you want something with more space then your jetta then? i mean why else would you consider a wagon.. lol just playin. if you want a car to modify, yet still have space, the WRX wagon is definatley what your lookin for. you want a grocery getter that can be made fast but still looks kinda ugly like a minivan, get the forester. you want a nice suv with awesome offroad capabilities, get the jeep. i'd say it's between those three, although i'm basing it on what i have gathered so far on what your personal tastes are. it really comes down to what you want this car for. so based on what i think you want i would say:

1) Subaru WRX Wagon
2) Subaru Forester
3) Jeep Cherokee

so it sounds like you have worked urself into a not-so-getout-able corner. here's how it goes:

sporty + aftermarket = no SUV
sporty + SUV = no aftermarket or after market but really ugly + not worth the money
aftermarket + SUV = really ugly, not worth the money
sporty + aftermarket + SUV + not ugly = does not exist

i hate math.. haha.
