Can i calculate tuning using just the Height, Width, and Depth of a box, or do i need to know the sq. inches of port area as well?

my buddy's got a box for sale that he says he doesn't know the tuning on it but it's 35"wide 17"High and 20.25"Deep with 83 sq. inches of port. Can i figure the tuning with that info?

also would that be too much cuft for 2 arsenal 12"s??

you need to know the length of the port to calculate the tuning.

i think that box would be a nice size box for the 2 arsenals.

aiight j/w cuz the AA website recommends 4cuft tuned to 35hz...and i'm not a math whiz but i think that box has gotta be well over 5cuft.

you gotta take in to account the port and the sub displacement.

well the port is massive, does a bigger port generally mean lower or higher tuning? or is it irrelevant?

can you measure the length of the port? port area doesn't determine the tuning. if the port is big and its long enough, it will be tuned low. try to measure the length of the port so we can determine the tuning of that box. if that box is tuned too high, it won't sound good for your arsenals.

okay mr. chad lee. i talked to the guy who built it actually and he says it's tuned to 38hz. AA reccommends 35hz for the arsenals...think 38 is too high? or it just wont get as low?

naw the 38 will still hit low. i mean my box is tuned to 40hz and it still hits low. it just doesn't hit it with alot of control like the lower tuned box. 38hz is still decent though.
