it would be pretty pointless though, if the sub sees a hz lower than the fs the impedance spikes majorly so the subs would be seeing little power, the lower tuneing wouldn't hurt nor help the sub.

what about tuning above the recommended fs. For example, my SD2.5's have a recommended fs of 32hz, and my box is tuned at 40hz for 2 15"s. How much of difference does this affect the the overall sound?

the fs isnt the "tuning point". more common than not, the port tune is higher than the fs.

SPL---WOW! and SQ---Great, surprisingly. To me they are very underpriced and underrated. Most people say that are around the DD's 2500 series, I'd say they are greater or equal to more the 3500 series!

"I'd say they are greater or equal to more the 3500 series!"
thats a bold statement considering they are from the same buildhouse and people dont just "say" that. they basically are lol. but on your side, the 2500 can kick some as$ too lol.

Ok, So Trevor, since my box is tuned at 40hz, and the fs is at 32, it's not a big deal if my port tune is not matching it or close to it?

trell, they are worth more than what you paid, feel better? lol and no your fine with a 40hz tune. AQ and DD subs like a higher tune. DDs site has all 40hz tune plans... id go with anywhere form 36-40 with AQ or DD for a SQL setup. of course for SPL just below RF.

One more dumb question...right now I have an Audiobahn HCT series amp on my 15's, don't ask why, and they are only seeing 150watts continuous, how much of a difference will that be when I get my Memphis 16-MCD1000 back in a couple of weeks? I mean, that's 150w apiece to at minimum 600 a piece! They get hella loud now, I can only imagine...

the tuneing really doesn't matter when compared to the fs, when you go below the fs the ohms rise is A LOT so essentially the sub will see not much power, so the output will go out the window, the higher you tune a box the more spl you will get to an extent, the reason DD likes higher tunings is because they have stiff spiders. also trell have you ever heared a 3500, if not your comparison means nothing.

Trell, prepare to be amazed.... you should, according to theory, gain appx 4.5 db going from 300w to 1000w.

Hmmm

3500>>SD2.5

2500>SD2.5

there nice subs...but not on the same level as the 3500, or 2500....still nice subs though..

Damn, I can't wait! lol Yea Chauncey, Trevor already got bust my bubble on that one, didn't need it again! lol But um, I'd say that it's probably 2500=2.5 than anything!

wellllll.... technically a 2500 is probably better..... but when you look in the spl standpoint its only in the .x's im sure and SQ is proably about the same as well.... dont worry trell you have amazing subs on your hands. and you could easily give them 2000wrms.

the HD3 was said to be only .6db off the 9500 and its only other downfall is the cooling...which it can still take like 3kw daily and probably around 10kw burps if not more??
