the W7 is a much much better sub. i think they can get as loud as a L7 too but that changes form install to install. i think if i were going to compete i might use the L7s though (out of these 2 subs). but in a daily setup W7 all day.

id take dub7 anyday over the l7...im not saying the dub7 is louder by any means...but its a much better made and overall better sub, imo. and i think square subs are pretty ghey.
but id take dub7 anyday of the week over l7

Funny Yanks. I've always thought the same thing about square subs. I guess I never "got" it. Doesn't look "natural". IMO.

the w7 its louder than l7 no doubt and will sound 100x times better doing it put the w7 in a ho box and forget about it. i saw a 13w7 in a hatchback civi doind 155 with a single phownix gold 1200.1 and the ho box and the w7 does are some relly good numbers

l7(kicker does not have specs for l7 so i used the 12" solo x)= 68.9*46 = 3169.4
W7= 54.2*58 = 3143.6

(method above is [surface area in mm squared] times [ maxium excursion both ways in mm] equals [voume displacement in mm cubed])

The W7 displaces almost the same amount of air as the solo x 12" so i'm assuming that the L7 has less excursion so the L7 displaces less air making it less loud. For wattage, the W7 and L7 are the same so the l7 probably is ever so slightly clearer cuss its pushing less air at 750 watts

yeah the only way a HO box and W7 are going to hit 155 is in the port.

alot of people dont realize sometimes the port ISNT the loudest location for SPL.. my car was louder at the dash than in front of the port... maybe inside the port would change that up?

to show you what a w7 can do in a HO box, just look at the design of the HO boxes, its incredibly complex...and id take the w7

i'm not bashing the HO box.... but a 155 legal score just isnt reasonable.... hitting 155 with a 13w7 and its rms is a very hard task with a one note wonder box i bet.
