5 lug wheel on 6 lug suv

okay so heres the deal im thinkin about gettin some wheels for my 6 lug suv but the wheels that im lookin at are 5-lug panther realm wheels.....and my suv is 6 lug.....now a guy told me today all i got to do is buy a adapter for the wheels to fit on the truck and he told me the wheel would stick out a little more than a usually whell would.....my ? is would the wheel really stick out a little more than a usually wheel with adding an 6 lug adaptor or was he just lyin......and is it safe to use a 6 lug adaptor and does alot of people do this?

yeah its safe and it only sticks out like a inch or two...

its probably not as good as have a 6 lug wheel but ive seen it done before

i think those adapters are kinda expensive though

i heard if i get it it would only make it stick out 1/2 of an inch

I've never seen that but it seems to me it may throw off your front end alignment.

get a alignent job when your done, they would probally only need to throw a few weights on the tires or somthing..

i used to have a an adapter they work really good and makes your car look better i recomend it

i heard of a guy who had them on his jeep and something wentwrong with them, they failed. now he's dead

yeah i called a local wheel shop and they said it would stick out 2 inches so im not gonna do it and he did say i could send them to houston to get them redrilled so they would be 6 lug but i dunno how much that would cost

First off if you went with the adapter just change the offset or get a smaller width so it doesnt stick out as far. Secondly there has to be a closer shop to you then houston to have them redrilled.
