set the gain to match the HU voltage

there is also a way to do it with a Digital volt Ohm Meter, go here http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/setgain.asp

Does this mean an amp that can drive 5k ohms at 100 watts is way more powerful than an amp that delivers 100 watts at 1 ohm?

...i dont kno where that came from.... but if the amp that was running 100rms at 5k ohms was stable down to like 1-2ohm then more then likly yes... and extremely powerful i may add it ould prolly blow any sub on the market with the quickness as long as it wasnt regulated like the JL 1000\1 for example how it keeps the 1000rms at 1.5-4ohm

Hmm I wonder if that means that the high ohm amp would have a much increased damping factor, maybe that's what you said, I dunno.

Yeah, the question came from the link to the ohm and volt and watt page. I'm still learning at my age. I do know, however, that 1 volt can push 1 amp into one ohm, which is also 1 watt.
My dad got his master electrician certificate long ago, omg he talks about it all the time, I can't say it's boring either..
