it depends, my HD has good SQ and gets insanely loud on 1200, i would be worried about putting that much power on a mag but the HD could take it no problem

yeah...1500w would be a little much for a mag...i was going to keep the gains and head unit eq @ a minimum.

although, Lloyd is running two mags and two sundowns @ 1ohm...and he is getting AWESOME results. i think it was mid 150's....

i wouldnt put that much power on a mag or a q really although people do it to both of them.

hd3 can take it fine so maybe go with them

like muddy set apples and oranges lol

SQ and Mag are SQL drivers focusing on SQ mainly
the HD3 is an SQL driver that focuses on SPL more

if you want louder HD
if you want better SQ either of the other 2 but i say Q's cuz of the price difference

what if i got two bxi 1206D's.
and, i was told, hifonics are underrated so really its about 1000w each

i would just wire the sundowns to 2 ohm...which is just over 900w but mags come in only 2ohm....so that is impossible....

is there any possible way i could get the mags is dual 4ohm ?

or...you know what...

a single 1500 @ .5ohm has been tested and rated @ just over ~1800w that would put the subs @ 900w each....

good?

Jordan, you have the same car as me and you live near me lol. I just purchased a single Mag 15"... Honestly, I would do the 2 12" Mag's... 1500 would not be too much for them daily seeing as to how Sundown recommends the mag's for their amps. Also... The Mag's have been given 2k-3k watts daily and had no problems. I'd def. go with the Mag.

Thanks,
Andrew

^I would also go with the mag, especially right now considering the low price on them 12''=
$325 and 15''=$350, get some mags.

IMO, the single sundown amp will be enough for the 2 Mag's. I just read a review of a guy giving his 2 12" Mag's 300 watts a piece and he says they got loud as fu**. Go with the 2 if you want though.... I personally would save that extra money and put it aside for a later investment.

Thanks,
Andrew

If youre not worried about the money, why not say.... an 06' RE XXX 15"? You have the same car as me so you can fit the 15". The lows from the XXX will kill you and im not even exaggerating.

Thanks,
Andrew

No offense, but you can't really ever overprice any of the XXX subs. They're arguably the best SQL drivers of past, present and possibly future lol. If something gets that low and plays that accurate, its worth every dollar spent on it. I would have one in a heart beat if they didn't go for $850 at a local shop!

if you really want a great SQ driver that has tons of output a single DD 9115 would do perfectly. IMO the XXX is poorly designed.

^^ he said 9115, not 99...

i think it comes down to electrical system...

if you have a HO alt, or plan on getting one use 2 sundowns with 2 mags... if not, you can take the chance and see if you alt can hold 1 sundown at .5 ohm... if you can, all the power to you, you save money, and have a great sounding system

of course....nobody should run any amp without some kind of electrical upgrade...such as a h-o alt...dual batts...big 3...sometimes a capacitor will help too....

hold-up here....lets set some shyte straight.

first off Andrew.....you said "i am not sold on the Q"......DOOD!!!! who was they guy that asked a new thread every day about Sub X vs. Sub Y help me help me!!:-( YOU

second, the XXX is NOT THE BEST SUB FOR ANYTHING
they are power hungry...SERIOUSLY, and for what it's worth, they don't sound as good as the old one, or even as good as the SE or MX.:-) and they become sloppy above ~50hz due to the huge xmax, which goes back to the huge amounts of power needed to reach it.:-)

Thanks,
Muddy

I haven't heard either sub, but from doing some research and reading about both (or all 3 for that matter), I dont think you will be disappointed. All will give you what you are looking for, deep, loud, low bass and sound pretty good doing it. Each has its own pro's and con's, the Mags will probably sound the best, but might not get quite as loud.

I ordered 2 15" Mags from the group buy, I have just read too many good things about them to pass them up at that price. If you go with the Mags, I would go with one Sundown wired @.5ohms. Watch some vids of the mags, they are very efficient, and 900watts is right under the rms rating. If you feel you want more, you can always purchase a second amp later, altho I feel you wont need to do this.
