Wall Mart .. lol.. wall mart has carpets to match most factory interior colors.. or your local stereo shop should be able to hook you up.. carpet is always a cheap way to go but if you want bling to to a place like home depot and get some fiberglass resin and some sand paper and paint and go to it.!! about 400 grit sant paper will give a good enough finish..

I hate messing with carpeting and such so I usually get my box hella smooth (use wood filler on the screw heads and such) and then paint it.

Any auto parts store will carry some stuff.
The 3M has a good bond, but is $$$$. Some stores carry an off brand thats 1/2 the $$ of 3m, but it takes longer to set up, and you need more cans to a box. 1 large can of "77" will do most boxes. 1 coats on the MDF, and 1 on the fabric, vinyl, carpet, fur, or whatever you decide to cover it with. I personaly like fabric. but carpet is very forgiving to work with. Over lap the seams, cut thru both layers, remove the bottom cut piece, and walla, a perfect seam. Fabric, you gotta match the pattern at the corners.

Scroll down

I switched from vinyl to carpet.
I find the carpet more practical and a lot easier to clean.
I also personally prefer the "common" and integrated presentation.

I got the carpet from www.partsexpress.com
...the vinyl from www.selectproducts.com

Marc, where did you find that carpet? I am looking for something a little different than just the normal black or grey. Sorry, don't mean to chime in on your thread Mike.

Well, Joannes had a wall with about 15 diffrent vinyls, all colors and textures for about $7.50 a yard.
There was also a lot of other stuff too. Headliner material, pleather, suade, and leather.
Also had a section with skulls and flame stuff.

Carpet is the most common. You can get good box carpet online from partsexpress.com. Use the "cabinet carpet" they have. Its unbacked and very easy to work with. For glue, go with 3M super 77 as mentioned. Its around $9 a can, but its GREAT stuff.
As far as the actual process, here is a tutorial I did for another forum: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=150453&highlight=carpeting
