4-Way vs. 3-Way 6.5" Speakers?

Can anyone help explain the difference and if it's worth it?
I've read that 3-way are better than 2-way since a 2-way speaker is trying to reproduce 3 levels of sound (Low, Mid, High), and such that the 3-way will last longer.
I'm comparing the Pioneer 3-way/4-way 6.5" speakers.

Anything more than a 2-way in a coaxial speaker is pretty much a gimmick, adding stuff like 'super tweeters' and 'hyper tweeters', but pretty much nothing to the sound over the 2-way system.

Component speakers are another story, however.

The 4-way I'm thinking about are the Pioneer TS-A641P

Just not sure if it's worth the extra money from the 3-way
