lets imagine i only have a sub no boxes amps decks or other goodies. how can i tell if the puppy is blown. its a 12" type S Alpine.

you'd need a power source with enough power to run the sub. The lowest RMS rating on the type-s is 50 watts. If you can find that you should be able to tell!!

Try this.Get a D size battery and a two wires.Hook one wire to the + and one to the - and connect the battery to the other ends of the wires.When you do this the speaker cone should move,if it doesn't it probably is blown.
