i dont think their is a specific number. and also, having a larger wire increases the length max I'm sure. a good way to go by is: keep it as short as you can :-)

i think its usually 18 inches or less, unless you ground it to the battery.

inches right? lol. that should be okay i would think. just make sure there is no paint at connection. it needs to be metal on metal.

i know someone who ran their amp under the drivers seat, and grounded in the trunk. that was prolly like 40 - 50 inches. hes run it since he got his license, and hes like so he must have run it like that for 1 year 6 months, ...no problems. although i wouldnt do it...

my amp is under my driver seat but i grounded it under the dash at max my ground is 30 inches but it is also 5 gauge. and it is alright for me

why did u ground it under the dash? did u know u could ground it to your seat frame or anything right around there?
