ok i got some mdf today so now im working on plans for the box. ive got this so far. my only concern is port area. what does port area do cuz i saw on the port calculator thing that i need 80in2 minimum. will this work?

that would be great.. but I'd personally drop down to 4 cubic foot.. i would have sold you a box made for my SX for $50 + shipping but it looks late for that now :-) ..

that will ne 3.8 cuft net @ 34hz.

what would be the difference in sound between a 5 cube box and a 4 cube box?

the chance to bottom out in a 5 cube is greater.. less control over itself.. thast why they rec for that sub was 3.5-4.0 foot but unless you don't throw more than the RMS on that sub 5 cubes would be fine.. i just like to stay with company specs :-)

hey... another question does a flare port make it any louder than a slot port? cuz i was gonna go with either a 5in slot port or 4 6in flares

depends on the install but in some cases it does.. from what I've seen on polos experience he used both slots and aeros and said the aeros made a big difference in spl.. but if you went that route I'd just use 4 4" aeros
