Adam, IMO that sounds good. Make sure you use only that battery and not the one thats under the hood already. Remember to do the big 3 also.

yes...i would put the hc1400 in place of the stock batt and run both + and - 1/0 wire back to the amp.

do the big-3 in 1/0 too.

~45-50ft of wire will get the job done right.
~18ft x 2 (power and ground)
3or4ft x3 (big 3)

whats the advantage/ disadvantage of running the stock bat and the kinetik in the back or the stock replaced with kinetik?

if the stock batts 'float voltage' is lower than the kinetik's...the kinetik will try to charge the stock batt when the car is off.

they will try to 'normalize' the float volatage.

kinetik batt will be strained.

hey marshall. just curious, why do the grounds on the big 3 if you are going to run a wire from amp ground to battery negative?

i emailed scott with a similiar question. i asked him what i should do when using the orion 2500 to power it. this is what he told me.

Chad,

Thanks for the inquiry.
With the amount of power that you have, and given that it is a daily driver (assuming from the lower tuning) I would suggest the the third magnet, high xmax coil, and full cooling. It does add $90 per sub, but they will live long lives for an extreme daily application (I am far from a salesman trying to upcharge for everything, but for a daily system they are very solid additions to the sub). It is rare that we do a daily driver without at least the full cooling. It simply adds to keeping the coils running much cooler. Also, most people really want the high xmax coil as 16mm runs out fairly quickly on low notes with the standard sub (and you need the third magnet as clearance for the longer coil. You might think about tuning even a little lower (we love the 30-33Hz range) as it really brings out the bottom end still has that head cracking upper bass.

Please let me know if there is anything else that I can answer.

Thanks,
Scott

Heck, I guess I already summed things up in Chads post ;)...
We have several people that are using that amp for a daily system with the BTLs. It is about split as to 3rd magnet and High Xmax coil Vs. standard BTL. At 2500W, tuned to 33Hz, you are at the limits of Xmax for the standard version in a medium sized enclosure. This is not to say that it wont keep pushing things along with the standard sub, just that you wont gain as much as a fully loaded will with more power/excursion. Over 2500W seems to be about the point where a change becomes really worthwhile in daily driver setups.

But, I believe that all of them did get the full cooling option... seems to be the first thing to get for a solid daily driver.

Thanks...
Scott
