Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 25 Registered: Oct-06 | what are some good spl subs. i wanted to get 2 15" fi ssd's powered by my zx1500.1 kicker amp. any other suggestions that would work with me amp? perferably 15's. thanks for all help |
Gold Member Username: Logan__tilleAudioqueUSA Post Number: 1984 Registered: Feb-06 | kicker L7s, kicker CVX, audioque HD3 |
Silver Member Username: KenwaPost Number: 433 Registered: May-04 | If that amp actually puts out close to 2000 which i know some get pretty close you could do kicker CVX 15s. |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 26 Registered: Oct-06 | what about the fi Q?? i heard it takes more power than 1000rms to power it?? |
Gold Member Username: Logan__tilleAudioqueUSA Post Number: 1985 Registered: Feb-06 | so does the HD3, but the fi Q is more of an sq/sql sub. |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 29 Registered: Oct-06 | what about the fi Q?? i heard it takes more power than 1000rms to power it?? |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 2091 Registered: Feb-06 | scott recommends anywhere from 750-1200wrms for a 12" q, not sure on the 15". |
Silver Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 643 Registered: Sep-06 | How much do you want to spend on subs? |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 31 Registered: Oct-06 | sorry about the repost. but would the fi ssd be a spl sub or is it the same Q's and HD3. im lookin for mostly spl so what is my best option? |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 32 Registered: Oct-06 | um not any more than 500. |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 2093 Registered: Feb-06 | why not try a havoc? |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 2094 Registered: Feb-06 | never mind, amp wont work with the havoc. |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 2095 Registered: Feb-06 | dd 3515 is about $400. |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 34 Registered: Oct-06 | what about some L7's. would my amp be able to power them without any clipping or other problems?? i have narrowed it down to" 2 kicker L7's 2 kicker cvx's 2 fi ssd's |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 2099 Registered: Feb-06 | get the fi's. |
Silver Member Username: KenwaPost Number: 437 Registered: May-04 | The CVXs, louder than the ssd and better build than the L7s. |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 36 Registered: Oct-06 | which ones!!! which ones have the best spl?? the L7's right? |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 2101 Registered: Feb-06 | l7 will be louder but they suck. |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 37 Registered: Oct-06 | im leanin more for the ssd's. but would the cvx be louder cuz they have more rms. |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 2102 Registered: Feb-06 | never heard the ssd's but i would take them just cause of the build quality, even though imo the cvx is the best kicker sub out. and rms means nothing, email scott at fi and talk to him about how much power to give them. |
Silver Member Username: KenwaPost Number: 441 Registered: May-04 | The L7s are the loudest of the 3. But they have a high failure rate thats why i said the CVXs b/c they are almost as loud but are better subs in general. The ssd is more of an sql sub so its the least loud of the 3. |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 38 Registered: Oct-06 | do you think that 2 15" cvx could fit in a car?? and ported or sealed box? thanks for all the help |
Silver Member Username: KenwaPost Number: 443 Registered: May-04 | Depends on what kind of car. And you would want to go ported b/cx that will be louder but the box required for 2 15in CVXs ported will be pretty big so that also depends on your car. |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 39 Registered: Oct-06 | well i have a 2000 grand am. not the bigest trunk but not the smallest. if ported doesnt fit then i would have to go with sealed. |
Gold Member Username: DrsmithMontana USA Post Number: 1481 Registered: Nov-04 | i had 2 12" cvxs on 1600 and my HD3 is louder snd sounds better on only 1200 watts |
Gold Member Username: DrsmithMontana USA Post Number: 1482 Registered: Nov-04 | BUMP DAMMIT |
Silver Member Username: KenwaPost Number: 448 Registered: May-04 | Im not sure what size ported box kicker recommends for those subs but i doubt it will fit. But in that car even sealed would be d@mn loud. And doc theres a lot of differance comparing 2 12s to two 15s especially with CVXs b/c the power handling is different. |
Gold Member Username: DrsmithMontana USA Post Number: 1489 Registered: Nov-04 | i realize that kenny but kickers build quality is nothing to brag about I would take the HD, AQ has the best customer service and there prices are great, also in the trunk of a car he would probably have to seal the CVX's but he could port the HD |
Silver Member Username: KenwaPost Number: 450 Registered: May-04 | Even sealed the 2 CVXs would still be louder than the HD. |
Gold Member Username: DrsmithMontana USA Post Number: 1492 Registered: Nov-04 | highly doubt that lol but i guess it does depend on the power 1 15" ported 3000 wrms > 2 15" 2000wrms sealed |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 40 Registered: Oct-06 | so cvx's would be loud then. the sq doesnt bother me as much. i just want the loudest i can get. also would the zx1500.1 be too much for a pair of 12 inch L7's. i konw the amp is underated so i am just wondering. |
Silver Member Username: KenwaPost Number: 459 Registered: May-04 | Most likely, if you got lucky enough to get a pair of L7s that dont have a flaw in the build then no but i wouldnt try it. I would still say go with CVXs. I just checked kickers website and the recommended ported enclosure for a CVX15 starts at 3 cubic feet so i dont know if that helps you with waether it would fit or not, If not they can be ran in as little as 1.8 cubes sealed. But whether you go sealed or ported the bigger box you can fit the better. |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 41 Registered: Oct-06 | how would i make a box that is 1.8 cubes? does it depend on how big it is or somthing else? |
Silver Member Username: KenwaPost Number: 464 Registered: May-04 | By cubes i meant cubic feet, thats how you measure the internal volume of a sub box. Yes thats just how big the box is. But with those subs and your car you would want a could go with a bigger box anyway. But im not really a box building expert so if i was you just make a new thread and ask some of the other guys on here to help you determine a size and to help design it. |
