I'm considering two head units:

1. Pioneer DEH-P980BT
32171715_32249681_308664727%2C00.html?compName=PNA_ProductDetailComponent,http:/ /www.pioneerelectronics.ca/pna/product/detail/0,,32171715_32249681_308664727,00. html?compName=PNA_ProductDetailComponent

2. Clarion DXZ955MC
http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2005/audio/source_units/cd/DXZ955MC/us-en- product-pf_1133851137422.html

The Pioneer has a 5 volt pre-out vs. Clarion's 4 volt pre-out to help process my two car amps.

How noticeable will this extra volt be to the listening experience?

I'd like to add Alpine DVA-9861 for consideration.

I like that it plays dvd-audio, the only one of these three that does. But then this Alpine only has a 4 volt pre-out like the Clarion.

i doubt a single volt will make a noticeable difference

1 volt is nothing when we talk about 4 vs 5. The last (9861) one would absolutely be the best one IMO. Even Alpines 1bit DAC's are nice, so their 24bit DAC's are fantastic to say the least:-)

I like the Alpine DVA-9861 too.

Technical quality being somewhat comparable between these units, in terms of features nobody that I could find offers dvd-r playback in a single din, and this includes dual layer disks. So that's 8.5 GB of mp3's on one disk if you want.

Yeah, I think 9861 would be the one to go with:-)
