hey im looking at a kenwood amp, one that my buddy used to have, its the excelon line, it sounded really nice in his car wondering what you guys thought of the excelon line

IMO if you listened to it and you thought it was nice. Then its good enough for you. But depending on price, which I don't know the price and exact model your talking about, we can get you better quality stuff if you wish depending on whats your budget.

i dunno about excelon but i had a kenwood amp that crapped out after only 10 months.

im never buying a kenwood product again

I was a big fan of all Kenwood products at one point, I still buy Kenwood HU but thats it. I hate the amps now, they just dont last.

i have heard that Excelon is the only Kenwood worth buying.

alteraudiousa talks about their Excelon speakers often

I have the X811D. Its had its problems. But after some mods, it OK. Very versitle.
533 @ 4 ohms
916 @2 ohms
1016 @1 ohm

I used to have the x621... pretty good amp. Gets warm every now n then, but it pushed my subs good.

thats the one i wanted to buy, the x811d, two of them for my arsenals... id only run the amp at 2 ohms so heat shouldnt be a prob

Mine had power supply problems, but thats caused I zaped the case with the Positve. I also had some caps replaced to higher value one. Its not the worst amp, but its not the best either. I would take the X811 over the X812 too. Nad it does put out some decent power. Ive benched 920wrms unclipped out of mine at 1 ohm

i have the x889 head unit and the x501 4 ch. and the x 401 mono that will handle 1/2 ohm load. ive never had a problem with these amps and they where bought in 1999

less chance of frying??? cause its 1ohm stable, and at two ohms would it heat up less???
