i got a 12in SX in my 97 civic and it sounds great, you will need to get a bigger alternator if you wanna fully power it but you cant go wrong with the SX.

If its $500 just for subs... I'd do the S.I. Mag 15"... It will blow you away. That single 15" will absolutly amaze you.

So i take it you guys figure it is better to go with one 15" or so sub instead of gettin 2 12"s or 2 10"s?

the 12 and 1Os will be more punchy and the 15s and 18s will be more of a boom

thats doesnt mean anything , if u get a big single sub in a small box will be more of a punchy bass but if u put it in a large to medioum will be more boom.

why:

bigger box pumps out:

1.louder

2.more bass

3.bass that is deeper and lower in frequency

4.bass that shakes and vibrates your car harder(it "feels" better and more intence)

also punchy and boomby its only made by the subs. its how the car reacts to the sound waves.
remember sytem its not only subs+amps=system.
its
loudspeaker + box + amplifier + car = system

remember this too:
A 10 inch woofer in a 2 cubic foot box will put out deeper bass than an 18 inch woofer in a 2 cubic foot box. This is because the 18 inch woofer is suffocating and choking in a box that is to small.
