How do we find out how many watts our alternator can handle?

The subject says it all... how IS it that you guys determine the capabilities of the alternators? I mean, I could wait till i phukk mine up... but I'd rather know ahead of time.

By the way, if there's anybody out there that's exceptionally wise: What's the max for the 1991 Dodge Ram Van?

the TRICK here, is to "finger out" howmuch current draw your system will pull at max output, and then by an alternator that can give you that much + w/e the car needs, which is generally like 60% of the alt's total power in most cases iirc.:-)
