I need help on how to do this effectively without needing to play the CD changer at the same time with the jacks out.

I play mine through an fm modulator. These are sold at radio shack for about 30 bucks. It hooks up through the headphone jack and transmits the signal to a radio frequency. You just change your channel to that station and your music plays.

do not use the fm-tuner...it is a waste of money, if you really want to play your mp3player through your car receiver then get a receiver with auxilary inputs. most now are in the back, you will have to run the wire somewhere (i just have a small hole in my mounting kit) for which a y-adaptor to run. that is the only way you will get clean sound
