I saw this craigslist post for a type r 12". Take a look at the picture.

It's red rather than the normal grey color, basically inverted colors with the logo. Is this an older model or fake?

I called up the guy because I'm interested in a cheap beat system to setup for my girlfriend. No offense to type r. Anywho, I ran into this and it sparked my curiosity. The guy said he got it from a friend. That's all I was told. Thanks for the help guys.

i looked on the other Alpine sites for other countries, because there are products over seas that aren't released over here for one reason or another, and all the Type R subs are the same, physically anyway. looks like a scam to me and i do kinda remember seeing that thing before.

but while looking at the Japan site, i ran across a new line of speakers called DD Linear. they look pretty impressive, i wonder how they sound or if they will come to the US!!

it is prob a company called smalpine or something like that. Kinda like rockwood and rockford, and soundstorm and soundstream. That is not like any type r I have ever seen.

Someone should let Alpine know about that.I'm sick of people abusing trademarks to sell products.
