there is no way you need that big of an alt unless you are planning to upgrade.

Amputator. higher Idle amperate FTW!!
plus it comes with a 1 year warranty included, other only has 30 days i think.

if you think you might be changing cars any time soon, go ahead and pay the life time replacement deal thats $99. he'll change out the alt for your new car if you get one for a small fee that'll be much cheaper then buying a new alt out right.

very good stuff from Dom!!

yes, most HO alts are basically giving you stock or lower output at idle (when your sitting in traffic or something). so until you get the RPMs up above 1500-2000, you will not have the amperage needed for a high powered sound system and the voltage will drop. any time the voltage can drop, thats bad, especially for amps and the speakers/subs they are powering.

so if you can get an alt with a higher idle amperage, go for it because thats a weak point.

i've had a 200 amp, 110 at idle, Iraggi alt in my car now for about a year and its been great.

just put a 180 amp, 105 or something at idle, in a friend's car.

good stuff.

Big 3: Really helpful
http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152355

You will want a red top in engine bay, if your saying what I think your saying, which is a battery for the trunk, then get a yellow top for the trunk. And for the big 3, for the gauge wiring you'll read it in that thread. And if you still didn't understand, just go with 0 gauge, nothing wrong with going big for the big 3 I believe.

I would go with a red, I have a red under the hood right now, works good. And plus if your going to run a HO alt, that would help more plus the big 3. The red top would charge up faster and is better for when you have the car on.

I have a blue top. it had the highest current rating, but if you have excessive alternator does it really matter? Some alternators have a smaller pulley on them to increase the alternator idle amperage. Yes do the big three and if you can afford it then use 1/0 wire too.
