the port is 14.5 x high 3.625 wide x 20" long. this will make the tuning 35 hz. Does 1 chamber yield more spl or anything? I was thinking about goin that route at first but then i thought about bracing so i just designed it to be seperate chambers.

run a brace from between the subs to the back wall of the box.

two 1/2" threaded rods would work great!

i'll put it this way...look at dam near ANY walled vehicles in dBDrag, USACi, ISACA....and any other SPL organization.

85% of them are 1 chamber, subs on passenger side, port on drivers. If i am wrong...there are ALOT of of SPL gurus that are wrong right along w/ me.

port in the middle isnt louder than port on the end of the box! SPL port to the driver side is loudest... its called loudin the mic... cause all that turbulance and presureized air rolls out the port behind the driver, to the corner of the dashboard then accross the dash and windsheild...
No other position is actually louder than that...
marshall is actually giving out alout of tricks, yea, common chamber, braced between both holes etc... :-)

I found sketchUP digging around on google...I downloaded 4-5 free CADs before i found one i liked alot.

SketchUP fit the bill nicly for box designes. Some of the other CADs were pretty much worthless.

YA, some are a pain in the @ss to use. This one was pretty self explanitary, all you had to do is play around with it which was quite fun! Polo... :-)

Before I discovered and acquired Sketch Up, I want through my different CAD programs that basically worked in 2-D and from the 2-D drafts I would then do 3-D drafts, but very basic 3-D's.

The most user intense Cad software like autocad or solidworks that you did 2-d designs and could translate them into 3-d are all well and good, but the learning curve for such programs required to much time just to understand basic function.

So, I just kept searching till I found SketchUp and after a few hours playin around with it, I had it knocked.

And now, this is the only drafting/designing program I will ever use because I doubt someone will come along with a better program that easier to use.

J-dub,

you drill a hole the same size as the rod in both the front and back wall of the box. You use washers and bolts to sandwich the MDF...inside and outside the box.

this is what it will look like:

Marshall,

Sure, no problem, can't be any harder than building a octagon shaped tree stand planter out red cedar.

The question is, are you or whomever willing to foot the bill?

preciate that Marshall. I've never built a box this big though. I'd imagine its a piece of cake. O yea, all i have is a skillsaw and a jigsaw. Will it get the job done. I was practicing my cuts not to long ago with my skillsaw and the edges were jagged. I think its the blade tho. What kind of blade should i get for very smooth accurate cuts? And where can i get some threaded rod?
