I have heard a few things about hooking up the amps to your battery. I have 2 15' 8500's with a hifonics amp and I want to know how I should hook the amp up to the battery, some say I should run a whole seperate battery and some say I should get a capacitator. What should I do, someone please help?

An amp that size can be run on many stock electrical systems without a problem. It depends a lot on the attention to detail on installation, and your listening habits.<br>

"It depends a lot on the attention to detail on installation, and your listening habits"

Seriously - that's what it comes down to. A 100A+ alt with a fresh battery should be plenty to drive an efficient 1200w amp unless those two things are bad and extreme, respectively.
A 1200w class D amp is only going to require 30A or so playing music good and loud. 50A tops, absolutely blasting.

2 or more batteries will require isolator. What Optidriven said works as long as you don't have accessories such as 100w spot lights etc...
