Removing capcitor

can somebody tell me if i need to do anything before i remove my cap because ive never done it and dont know if its still got a charge in it or something?

unhook the cap from the battery, but leave the cap connected to the amp and run your stereo for a while. If there is a charge it will be gone shortly

you do what Chad said, just make sure you keep the volume low.

or hook a light bulb across the leads, when the light goes out, the cap is discharged.

if the cap has a REM wire on it, then you don't have to worry about anything. it'll only discharge if you put 12V+ on the REM lead.
