a friend has a corolla 2002. I need to know how many amperes the alternator can put?

we're trying to put a 800w rms system for bass and 200w for voice.

i don't think the alt can hold that but tell me.....

My guess would be around 80 amps. I had a 91 Camry and that is what it had. Just hook it up and try it, you can never know...

Call autozone, or any other shop like that that sells alts....ask for a replacement.....then ask how many amps it puts out.

Simple.

well i told him that already... for those guys who were talking about calling Autozone... i'm from another country hehe... mat/rovin i might catch 2 10 kicker comps to create a lil system for him... i don't want him to f*ck the alternator and blame me hehe. The car is "like new bro it has low mileage and he's getting it when he takes the driving exam".

Thanks for the help and rovin the Tag only has the alt number/serial...

For the guys saying to call etc etc etc.

You have NO parts shops? I doubt that. The same directions would apply for any.

Anyway. You need approximately 70a per 1000w to add to your system. The stock alt has NO headroom where car audio is involved, regardless of what you have heard/been told.....period. The stock alt is built to handle what the car came with, and no more. Only large case alts are more capable of handling an extra load, if any. Yours has a small case.

Can't the battery provide transient but heavy current? What about two batteries + 1 Farad capacitor?
