i am not sure....i am not familiar with the Eclipses man.

i have been told however that the Aluminums are SQ oriented(if that is what you have)

and that the Type R's are louder than the Type X's with the same wattage...dunno though...i see the X's taking more wattage soooooo

I have 15" Aluminum Eclipse's.. SQ for sure, they sound awesome but they also pound the crap out of my car and any car around me.

There's a guy here that has 2 type x's and he said he might trade me for my Eclipses.. but if the type R's are louder maybe I'll pick up a set of those on ebay and store the Eclipses until I choose which to stay with.. I dunno..

Anyone else have an opinion?

Muddy I got a question for you to if he's done. What type of batteries should I use, yellow top, red top, some other brand? I'll have my car on most of the time, but I would love to be able to get it score'd to see how many dB's it would hit, and that means I'll have to turn the car off. But mostly the car will be on, so whats good for me? I think you know my upcoming setup so far.

the only reason you would need a batt is if you have ur car off, and when its off, its chargin with that batt. for this, you want a yellow top

so 4 yellow tops in the back would be okay for a 6-7 k system and a 300amp alt?

you use batts. whgent he current of your alt. simply isn't enough....

you would do a battery bank and have the alt simply chgarge the batts while the system sucks power from them.:-)

i have heard that with a high current draw system...yellowtops work better...:-)

even though red's will give off more of a charge at any given time...the yellows work better for extended power suckage <--like that word huh? :-):-):-)

So, keep my Eclipse's or take his Alpine type-x's

He reeeeeally wants my subs, he also has them in a custom jl audio box (made for 2 of them)

what are they worth in a box? 2 of them used...?

I'm finding that there are a lot of yellow tops that optima provides. Is there any "certain" model of the yellow top that I should be looking into? Thanks. Sorry not to flood on your thread but it seems to get Muddy or someone else in here to answer my questions also.

Yeah? The only reason I was going to trade him is because my Eclipse's are SVC 4 ohm 500wrms 1000 wmax each and his alpine type-x's are dual 4 ohm 1000 wrms 3000 wmax each.

But I suppose the Alpine type x is built for SPL and my Eclipse's are built for SQ but happen to hit extremely hard..

Any amp suggestions?! I need something that will put out a clean efficient 1000 wrms :-) Budget is pretty much zero.. but can come up with money as required.

Please, try to keep it affordable..

actually the type x is an sq sub. for an amp, get a pg xenon 1200.1, maybe a nine.1.

I was actually looking at the x1200.1.. but the cheapest I've found is $400 before shipping on ebay.

I've never heard of a 3000 watt SQ sub, weird.

can't go off rms, and never go off 'peak power'. and actually given the proper power and install a type r will have more spl than a type x. and what amp do you mean, x1200.1?

x1200.1 is the Phoenix Gold xenon 1200.1 (x1200.1 is the model)

My eclipse's are currently recieving 700 or so watts, they say 500 rms each.. they could be louder :-)

I was thinking 1000-1200 would be nice, but I don't want to upgrade my 4awg wire unless I have to.

Theres the nine.1 or why dont you look up the MA p1000.1 for 300, talk to ben and it might even be 300 w/ shipping but never know, he gives good deals.

the nine.1 is only 900 watts@2ohm, my subs are svc 4 ohm each.. total load is 2 ohms.

I need something that pushes 1000wrms @2ohm, or something that has a fully regulated power supply and puts out 1000wrms or so at all impediances.

the nine.1 is rated at 12v. many people say they bench 1400-1500w at 1ohm, and when talking to ed they told me you can typically expect to see 1000-1100wrms at 2ohm.

I went into Best Buy today and was talking to this guy...and he told me the new Type R's(with the accordian surround) are actually the old Type X's...b/c the older type R's belw to easy with the surround and VC they had....so they just stuck the R logo on the old X motor and started selling the new R's like that.....hmmmm w/e. lol

What is his reasoning for wanting to trade you? If he wants to trade you straight up then what you have is probably better than what he has.

I would rather have the eclipse over the type X.
