I'm thinking about picking up one FI SSD18 and building a HUGE box in my trunk.. Can't believe it's only 800 wrms, though. It would be running at 1000wrms@1ohm.

And I was thinking about selling my SX as well but with those prices I might just sit on the damn thing.. get it re-coned some time and then sell it as nearly a brand new sub :-) .. but damn.. I just sold an RE SX 15" for $240 shipped and let two RE 8"s go to Marshall for $85 .. eeek lol. Oh well

idk if this has already been said on here someplace, but i've read that the founder and designer or RE audio runs Fi audio...so they are close to the same stuff.

still haven't heard much feed back from the people ordering Fi Audio subs yet.

Why are the prices so high?... well.. my take on it is RE was starting to make a big name for itself and many knew what they were capable of so when they got boughtout by US amps they wanted to make every bit of extra money they could.. The subs do not cost near that to make.. no only that but since US amps specializes in amps they want to sell amps not subs.. high priced subs might mean more business for their amps.. who knows. Sadly enough to say I'll never own another RE unless I get it used..

The only reason they raised thier prices is so that the dealers would get more business.

If they make the MSRP high then the dealers can say they have a "sale" on the subs and give it to you for what the old prices were or around them at least.

Has anyone been to a shop that deals RE subs?

I bet that the real price for the subs aren't near the MSRP unless they really dont want to sell any of them....

i went to a re dealer awhile back and they told me a 12" xxx is $800 and a 12" sx was $350.

the xxx was like $650 when it came out and the SX was $270. So there was a price hike but its not as high as the as the MSRP.

So really the dealers have some room in the price if they ever wanted to have a sale on em.

Its kinda like Dell, they have no Stores or any kind of overhead like that so they can give you better prices on computers. RE dealers have to make money somehow so they have to jack up the prices a little from the dealer costs.

I just ordered a SX12 from my dealer a couple days ago and it only cost me $300. Those MSRP prices are always way higher then what they are actually sold for.

The list is MSRP, they can be had for cheaper from a dealer, if you find a dealer.
