hello noob here. What are the typical symptoms of a blown sub? I have a infinity 12.1 and it buzzes when it hits the some of the low beats if the volume is up more than halfway. If I just push on the sub theres a slight grinding noise. Is this sub blown?

it is definitely not in tip-top shape.

that sound you hear is the VC rubbing against the inside of the magnets.:-(

but this can also happen on subs in which there is VERY little room between the VC and mag. like on some of the JBL subs.

if you don't push the cone in from the exact middle of the cone....the VC will rub. seen that, i was like ooooops. lol

not necisarily, i bottomed out sub is when the cone hits the basket, usually when too much power is put through it. to answer the original question, your sub isnt quite blown, but its definetly getting there. use it for what its worth, but be ready for it to give out.

yeah. not quite sure what a bottomed out sub is.

i have "bottomed out" my sub a few times...and it still performs %100.

it is probably misaligned...and will stay that way until it is 1. fixed or 2. blown:-)

Well I found another one for cheap but still that bums me out. I had it hooked up to a kenwood 7201 and bridged the two channels so it had 460watts rms (reccomended is at 350rms) but I've been told that this sub could handle it, guess not. How would I go about fixing it or is it even worth it?
