Port noise

what exactly causes port noise, i know it has something to do with air turbulance or something. i am going to be building a ported box in the near future and would like to not have port noise. it will be slot ported

Be sure to sand your corners and get them round and you shouldnt have any problems.

think about it like this...when you try to put alot of air through a small passage it will whistle.

also, if you push alot of air over a edge it will whistle.

sharp edges on the ports and not having enough port area will cause port noise.

so even if i have enough port area will i still have to sand the edges to get not port noise? just the inside edges? what if my port is very thin, will sanding the edges even make a difference?

Also try to keep your ports at least 3" away from any wall or obstical inside the box.
