I dont have an amp...I was actually wondering what I should get. I was thinking a hifonics bx1605d maybe??? it says 1100watts rms @ 2 ohms but is over rated so it would b like about 900 or so right?? thats most likely the amp im gonna go with unless someone else suggests something better. and the box will be around 3 cubes and tuned to 31 hz. I am hoping that this will get loud and still sound good.

the box I am still kinda undecided about cause it is just going to have to be so big and my trunk opening is so small....the trunk itself is big but the opening is small so if i build the box it will have to be really long and wide but really flat so it will fit.

that amp will be sufficient. just remember to set your gains correctly.

2.5 cu ft net
Tuned to 28 Hz
30 sq. in. of Vent Area

that would probably be your best bet. seeing about youre space issue. but you could def tune higher for more SPL.

yeah....I have been to that before. there really isnt a space issue...its a getting the box through the opening issue. the largest opeing in my trunk is only about 16 inches....so I need to design the box to fit through there...thats y i came up w/ having the box be about 12 inches tall and mounting the sub on the top.

one thing I dont understand is how much vent area you need to actually tune it to a certain frequency. like on this one site i was at to tune to box to 28hz it said there was like 60 something square inches of vent area.

that is to keep the vent length down.

the more vent area you have the less length you need to acquire the same tune.

ok....I still really dont understand how to calculate all of that. but if i went to round flared ports would it be better than a slot port?? would it save me any space?

yes. it would save you space.
multiple flared ports are easier to do yourself. and they require less room.

ok....how do I calculate how much port area i need and all of that?? If I put the flared ports on the inside I will have to subtract that area from the whole box right?? can you put the ports outside the box?? because that would make the box a lot smaller...and how does it work if they are on the outside?? .....thanks already for the help...as you can see box building is one thing im not very good at
