Are there anything that is new that many companies put in there HU's now that was not out about a year or two ago? Would this CD player still be up to par with newer HU's. Is the sound quality still as good as newer ones?

Definitely.

It usually takes 3-4 years for features in a head unit to become outdated (or lacking, really).

In the same light, the sound quality would rival head units to come in the next 5-6 years I would say.

The DEH-P80MP was the deck "the people invented". It featured the single oversized rotary knob and 60wmax x4 built-in amplifier. Which really wasn't much more powerful RMS than any other stereo.

For 100 dollars, as long as it works, you can't go wrong.

I have seen alot of those come back from customers with bad ic sets, so be sure you hook it up correct and never abuse it.
