I currently have my 15" CVR in a sealed box. Is it worth the extra money buying a prefab ported box? Do the advantages of going ported with this sub outweigh the disadvantages? Im not currently considering making my own box since i have no box making/porting experience?

it would make it louder most likely and more efficient but then again the build quality of a prefab box is not all that great

A port does make any sub signifigantly louder. The prefab boxes ive seen usually arent poorly built. They are just not built to spec and therefore do not sound near as good as custom enclosure.

u will only add 3 db if u put a port in a sealed box, single sub in a ported it just as loud as a dual woofer in a sealed

and yes sometimes the port can help u alot if want more spl

The box i was looking at had a cirle port and it was only 57 Litres. Looking at the specs from kicker, they recommend a rectangular port and a minimum of 85 Litres(3ft cubed). So i guess i should look at a different box, right?

square ports suks, they make alot of noises, make turbulences if your porting a box with a rectangle port use bonde and sand it to make the air flow better if u can put a coat of fiberglass insede the box ull gain arounf.3 db's its not much but it willeliminate all noises and make the air flow better put flared ports they always work best

Remember, im gona buy a prefab box. I have no experience with sub boxes at all, which is y i wana buy one already made so i can just slide my subwoofer in there and start bumping... I dont live in the US, which is y i havnt asked any of u guys 2 build me 1 (which i would have done if i was in the US since u guys know what your talking about)

oh i see. Well make sure you look around for a good one. You dont wanna buy one thats tuned to 45hz or around that area(many prefab boxes are)because it will sound terrible musically. Look for a box thats about 3.5-4 cu. tuned low to mid 30s.
