^^^well not my first reaction but...

yeah like troy said, if you don't know how to build a good box or are just plain lazy, it pays off. also, if you are going to get a good sub it's nice to know that you are getting the subs full potential

depends on the shop. if you really trust the shop then yeah, but a lot of them do not build very good boxes and they aren't built to maximize your specific woofer.

the shop i work at doesn't build very good boxes. i've seen them work on a box and i wasn't impressed and a lot of other shops seem to be the same.

if you want a box and don't want to make it yourself talk to ATF he makes very good boxes and his prices are pretty decent.

from another thread i posted in,

quote:

TCAB = overpriced sh1t.

and good luck getting your box done and shipped to you in under 6 months.

go read around on ROE.

take a box. put the sub on the side. then put the port on the front....but make them multiple flares so you don't have to bend a slot port. no turbulence or friction from a bent port, and the ports are on a diff. side. WALLA, you have built your own TCAB.:-)

Grant you have to buy the ports like that. PE has them and so do a few other online stores. They are kinda expensive though.
