if you turn your system up and the alternator isent powerful enough for the system and it shuts your system off but the car stays on does that mean you cant actually blow the alternator cuz it shuts it off when it gets to be to much

No, Your alt does not controll the amp. Your alt is putting out as much as it can but the amp does not receive the right amount so the amp shuts down. Your alt is under stain at most times, Unless your sub wiring is causing it to shut down, or small wire feeds, or bad ground, or lack of big 3, or poor eguipment, or bad instalation, or....many other reasons. Put a meter on it and get some info.
