What Sub and Amp to choose?

I have a Volvo v40 and in it I have some infinity kappa speakers and a rockford amp (100Wx4 @ 2Ohms RMS). My power cable is 20mm2 (4awg) from the battery to the amp. My alternator is 120A. I have room for 2 10" subs on the sides of my trunk, one on the left and one on the ruight side, facing each other (want to be able to fold down my seats to load stuff). The Amp/Amps I can place where the spare wheel should be. The music I'm mostly going to play is Trance/Techno and some Rap. My budget would be about $400-$450. This info I need: #Amp/s #Sub/s #Power cable size #Closed/ported box Any good tips would be appriciated  // Daniel |

I mean what you need, a loud music (SPL), or a music with good sound quality (SQ), Loud music with sound quality, or just plain loud sound which have a ill sound quality. That will help somone on this forum to help you. Also, how many do you want to spend on subs and how many on an amp? |

So people hear it's me coming I have room for 2 10" in a closed box, or 1 12" in a closed box. 15" would be to big... How loud is the assassin 12 in a closed box (can it play well in a closed box)? Heard that the DD's must be in a ported to sound good.. I'm not going to compete with the setup, only for daily use and a little pumping and cruising There fore I want SQ over SPL. |

JL Audio 12W3v2-D4 12" Heard that Treo, DD, Ascendant Audio are good, and I have also heard that JL subs and Amps should be good. New member Username: BrucebrownPost Number: 2 Registered: Aug-06 | Set your sights more on the w6 and the w7. You will hear plenty JL dealers say the w6 is the superior subwoofer in SQ however, It is my experience that the difference in SQ is so minute that you cannot actually tell the difference, if any at all , they shall be subjected from driver to driver. Illinearities in BL and KMS curves cause 90% of distortions in subwoofer frequencies both are the same for the w6v2 and w7. Inductance is smaller on the w6v2 which can help some.... but in my opinion not of audible levels. The inductance difference really isn't there between the two drivers honestly. Either one of these two woofers would sound far better then the w3. |

Bronze Member Username: KungwazPost Number: 22 Registered: Jul-06 | Ok, if I go with this: JL Audio 12W6v2 12" JL Audio E1400D 1400 Watt Class D that would be like $279 + $225 = $504 (on eBay) A little over my budget, but I belive I can do it. Is there any better choice if I have $500 ?? Remember I want SQ over SPL. |

New member Username: BrucebrownPost Number: 3 Registered: Aug-06 | The 500/1 will be fine, The PPI Art series amps are good inexpensive amps. Arc Audio xxk series would be my choice. Keep in mind your sub of choice at this moment can handle 400-500 watts I would not go over 600 |
