main difference is the screens, i think a little more EQ and crossover options and the per out voltages. 5800 having the flash, 4800 having the power.

First, let me say that I run the 5800 and love it. Also, I want to make sure you're comparing the deh-p5800mp and the deh-p480mp, not the deh-p4800mp since the 480 is a Premier model and the 4800 is not.

Differences:
Aux input: 480 has rear AUX in, 5800 you have to use the IP-Bus cable
Display: The 480 has a standard LCD display while the 5800 has the sharper OEL
Crossover Options: the 480 has a few more
Pre-out voltage: The 480 has 4V preouts, the 5800 has 2.2V preouts
Warranty: the 480 has a 2 year warranty because it's a Premier model, the 5800 warranty is only 1 year.

Brandon's summary is good, the 5800 looks a bit better IMO, but the 480 offers slightly better performance. I went with the 5800 because it was easier for me to get (since there are no Premier dealers in my area) and it went with the rest of the silver and red theme in my car. The 4V preouts would have been nice, but if I cared that much I'd go with something in the 7V range, the extra 1.8V wasn't going to be the deciding factor. It's too bad the 580 doesn't offer 4V preouts like the 480, or I would have probably ordered that.

what are the differences and the pros and cons of the 4800 and the 5800 other than the 4800 being 30 bucks cheaper?

Differences between 4800 and 5800:
Aux Input: 4800 has rear AUX In, 5800 requires IP-Bus cable
Display: Same as 480 (standard LCD) while the 5800 has the OEL display (this is the main difference)
Crossover Options: 4800 has a few more

Like brandon said, you get better performance with the 4800 (though very slightly better) and better looks (though that's all opinion) with the 5800.

i'm kinda leaning towards the pioneer but by the looks of it the kenwood seems to be just as good and a little cheaper.

Pioneer all the way. Kenwood has bad build quality.

If you haven't already done this it's worth taking a look at. The Pioneer is the clear winner in terms of features and build quality in my opnion.
