I installed my system tonight...well almost

I have a sony xplod head unit
sony xplod sub 1100 watt
sony xplod amp 500 watt

i was told that the amp wattage needs to be greater than that of the sub...is this true?

seond question: we hooked everything up right but my sub was absolutely dead, it is brand new so idk wgat to think

any ideas???

It will make the sub sound better, yes, but generally you can go +-100 watts away from the RMS wattage. You have the maximum power wattage ratings listed which are useless.

Does the amp LED indicator turn on?

yes having 100watts more on the amp will provide better bass and quality to your subs but one thing bill never go for all around sony system, you have to mix brand because thats the way it is,
