i have 4 5.25 all the way around in my car, and the bass from them sounds horible. is there anyway to correct this without/ last ditch effort of buying new? and if i do what would be the best bang for the buck, im not looking for bass responce seeing as i have 2 type R 12's in the trunk.

if u have two type r's then u dont need the bass from the regular speakers just turn it all the way down or use bass blockers

You could use a home made crossover as a bass blocker, basically, yes. However, bass blockers are like under $10. :-)
