Ok. I've read enough on what most consider to be the best in their opinion. Now I want to hear some opinions on what you guys would recommend a newbie like myself to positively stay away from. I'm looking for horror stories and laughable examples that would set anyone straight. I'm not looking to poke fun at anyone's set up but more of a collage of lesson's learned the hard way in buying cheaper equipment. There are so many outlets that sell $50 subs and $60 amps. Im looking for the bottom of the barrel. Any takers?

I bought a pair of 12" Legacy subs in a box and a Legacy 4 channel amp one time for $70 shipped of ebay. It was a package deal. I thought it was gonna be the sweetest sounding thing ever, should have seen my face when i realized my stock speakers had better bass output. :-(

Places like Pep boys and Walmart are riddled with these toys. The price is so inviting, and misleading. "I can get how many watts for only that much $$$?" Years ago I remember buying a 100w car amp from Urban Audio works for like $30. "Not bad" I thought. Break it down it worked out to be 100w peak for both channels. What I got was a 25w amp that was less than my stock amp. Their speakers worked on the same principal. Today's market is I'm guessing no different. I just want to know what the "cheap" brands are so I can stay away from them.

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly *or* Is this brand any good?--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----
These are some pretty generalized groupings and also very subjective. We've simply based our experiences with the products whether they are direct installs, personal property or extensive research. You should always physically listen to a product before purchase because you are the one who will determine whether or not an item "sounds good" or not.

This topic, while being controversial, is simply a generalized guide meant for beginners in the hobby. Many brands specialize in certain items, ie. better amplifiers than speakers, better mids than subs, etc... Also almost all manufacturers offer entry level products as well as high quality lines. As I stated before, this is a GENERALIZED guide. It is your responsiblity to research and audition every brand before you purchase anything. Good luck with your decisions.

We've broken this section into 4 catagories:
1: Bad
2: Questionable
3: Good
4: Highly Recommended

I started with 2 15" lanzar 1200w peakz in a sealed box, and a 1600w soundstorm amp. It didnt sound good, but it hit, and the package was around 300 at the flea market. The cone ripped open after a month. I never opened my trunk, but a hole just appeared. idk, wut happened, but i'd say the bass was too much for the material.
