OK. a couple of things I have noticed and am wondering if they are normal

1>my system hits louder with the windows down. this I can understand...it makes my car work kind of like a ported box, right?

2>my system hits louder in the middle of the day, when it's real hot outside ...is this because the amp and subs are already "warmed up"?

3>I get the highest measurement on my SPL meter on the floorboard on the passenger side...something to do with sound being concentrated there or something maybe?

and
4> today, I was driving along with my trunk open, because I was hauling an edger back to a rental place, and my system was still hitting as loud as it does with the trunk closed....maybe the same amount of sound still comes out with the trunk closed, and I need to add some sound barrier (like e-dead) to the trunk?

Well what about it people, can you answer my questions for me please

i have some of those problems too. well not problems but the same effects. mine is way louder when the windows are down.not sure about the middle of the day thing tho,and the sound is concentrated in my truck too.ya i think some deadening stuff would work well for the both of us.

1: Yep, it's normal.
2: Not completely sure, but I would have to say yes.
3: Yes, sound can definitely be concentrated in certain areas of the car.
4: I would say both, the trunk could be too big, and/or it needs to be sealed better...

1. Having your window open gets rid of standing waves, which cause cancelation. works the same in a house. open the door to the your home theatre is in and that will get rid of standing waves.
2. Electrical circuits work more efficiently when cold, not warm. ELectronics don't need time to "warm up". They get hot b/c the power they don't use due to inefficiency is let off in the form of heat. Sound acts differently based on the air pressure. This can be affected by heat/cold.
3. Every car a "sweet spot".
4. Maybe you are getting cancellation when your trunk is closed, and when it is open you are losing sound. So either way you are losing bass.
